Joburg residents have their say about ‘Pastor Doom’
JOBURG NORTH – Local residents share their opinions about 'Pastor Doom'...
By Andrei van Wyk
DUSTIN VAN WYK:
As funny as it initially appears, it’s always sad to see people’s vulnerability and desperation being exploited in public spaces. If we can educate people on the dangers of online scams, surely we can make public awareness about the dangers of false pastors.
UNATHI MYEKI:
To be honest, what he’s doing to people is wrong. Doom is for killing insects not spraying on people. That pastor deserves to be investigated and questioned.
BABALWA THAKATSHANA:
I just think people are hungry for the word of God. They’ve become desperate and he’s [pastor] being very opportunistic. I don’t think people are truly reading the word of God. Doom is supposed to kill insects. It’s causing so much damage.
THEODORE MOYANE:
The situation in our country has left people feeling hopeless. And these pastors who have suddenly shown up, use religion as a means to give people false hope. It’s ridiculous. They’re turning religion into a business and having their way with others.
