Not even a cold day could make the Chicken Runners ‘chicken out’ of their Golf Day in support of baby Marco Steyn.
This was the biggest event the group organised for Marco who suffers from the near fatal Krabbe’s disease.
The Golf Day sponsored by Lexus Security was held at the Ruimsig Country Club on 17 April and saw 108 golfers partaking in the four- ball version of the game.
At R2 000 per four ball this amounted to a substantial contribution to the funds for little Marco. This was also the penultimate event for the ‘Runners before they leave on 26 April for Cape Agulhas, the geographic southern tip of the continent.
On the day Dis-Chem Westgate donated medical supplies, vitamins and a medical aid kit for the tour.
There were hundreds of prizes up for grabs and an auction at the end of the day was complemented by a delicious meal.
The event also saw random participants making donations at the different holes and although for a serious cause it was clear that the men put the emphasis on fun rather than on competition.
The public still can make donations by contacting Dewald Muller on 084 555 1503. All are invited to come and say goodbye to the team of scooter crazies at Fat Cats Pub and Grill on 26 April.
The group will gather from 4am on the morning and will be leaving at 7am sharp.
