Monster Factory Gym power on
Monster Factory Gym athletes return victorious from South African Benchpress Championships.

Monster Factory Gym’s Tammy Goosen was a big winner at the South African Benchpress Championships in Durban last weekend.
She broke the South African record in the 84 kilogram junior class by lifting 75 kg equipped. Goosen also walked away with the best junior lifter and best overall female lifter awards.
She was not the only one from the gym to succeed as Sarel Gadney came third overall in the 105 kg division, lifting 150kg unequipped. In the 120 plus, Master 1 division, Juan Meyer placed first overall by lifting a 175 kg unequipped.
Player-coach Vince Cosmo was not to be outdone by his pupils as he placed first in his 120 kg category Master 1, lifting 235 kg equipped.
With first place finishes, Cosmo and Meyer ensured their selection to the South African squad that will compete in the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in Canada later this year.
“Our team did well and I am looking forward to seeing more growth from each of the athletes. We want to dominate in the sport and issue a challenge to other clubs to produce better results and prove who the strongest is, that will help grow the sport. These results prove that we are on par with the rest of the world even if we lack the neccessary competitions and funding in the sport,” said Cosmo.
