Visions Gymnastics Eugene Ngcobo and Bianca Mann have been selected to represent South Africa at the Africa Games.
Held in Brazzaville, Congo from the 2nd to the 17th of September, the two gymnasts are part of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC) team that will participate in the continents biggest sport event.
Ngcobo was selected into the team for his specialist performance on the floor, Rings, vault and parallel bars.
The Westbury resident is no stranger to the national team.
He has represented the country at last year’s African Gymnastics Championships, Commonwealth Games and Cottbus World Cup.
Mann will be aiming to build on last year’s success where she won no less than four medals at the Africa gymnastics championships.
She was placed second in the all-around event and her performance helped the team achieve gold medal.
Mann then claimed another two medals on uneven bars and beam respectively, following it up with a superb performance at the Commonwealth Games.
This year, she made history, making consecutive finals at two world cup events and placed 5th and 6th.
She was also crowned as South Africa’s top female gymnast at the 2015 senior national championships.
Visions Gymnastics head coach Derick Scholtz said the gym is looking forward to how well their two gymnasts do at the competition.
“We are exceptionally proud of these two athletes and we hold thumbs for them and hope the competition day goes down as planned,” he said.
