The new year meant something a little more special to the Elliot and Ramcharan families where they spent it in Life Flora Clinic.
Both families welcomed healthy newborns in the early hours of 1 January with the help of friendly staff in the maternity ward. Both Zoey Elliott, 24, and Aria Ramcharan, 35, underwent cesarean sections in order to birth their little bundles of joy, both arriving two weeks earlier than expected.
Zoey and husband Bevin, 31, welcomed baby girl Madison into the world at around 2.20am, weighing 3.3kg. The couple said big sister Layla, 7, could not wait to spoil the little one. Madison is a name of English origin meaning ‘Son of Matthew, son of Maud’ and has been a popular girl’s name since the 1980s after the movie Splash was released, according to behindthename.com and babynames.net.
Aria and husband Ashley in turn welcomed baby boy Paresh at 3.28am, weighing 2.67kg. His older brother Jashan, 4 and a half, is very excited over his new playmate. Paresh is a boy’s name of Sanskrit or Indian origin and means ‘Supreme spirit or being’, according to babynames.com.
Life Flora Clinic was also the birthplace of one baby on Christmas Day, personnel said. According to reports by other media houses, 189 babies were born in Gauteng alone on Christmas, 93 male and 96 female. A hundred and eight New Years babies were born in Gauteng, 53 boys and 55 girls.
