
It was a sea of colour as Hoërskool Florida hosted their interhouse athletics meet. Learners dressed in the colours of their teams such as the green of the Mamba, the red of the Valke and the bright yellow of the Luiperds.
Although the main competition was on the field, the supporters competed to see who provided the loudest and most boisterous support. This spurred on the athletes as numerous records were broken or equaled on the day.
Kristi Lampbrecht broke the Girls U/14 300m record of 55.50 with a time of 51.60, while Mareli Theart broke the Girls U/14 High Jump record of 1,40m with a new height of 1,45m and Louise Kemp set a record of 28,37m in the Girls U/14 Discus event, breaking the previous record of 27,28m.

In the Girls U/15 Shotput, Alicia Morton set a record of 9,71m, thoroughly breaking the previous 9,37m record. In the Boys U/14 Long Jump event, Laney Joseph set a record of 5,98m, beating the previous record of 5,83m.
In the Boys U/14 Discus event, Rodger Petersen broke the 38,53m record soundly, setting a new distance of 40,27m while Levandrè Horne broke the Boys U/15 Long Jump record of 6,14m with a new distance of 6,19m. In the Boys U/19 Long Jump, Dylan van Heerden broke the existing 6,48m record with a leap of 6,58m.
Claudia Aggenbacht was awarded the Senior Victrix Ludorum for placing first in the Girls U/16 Long Jump, Shotput, Discus, 100m, 200m and 400m events, as well as placing second in the Girls U/16 Javelin. Tino Swanepoel was awarded the Senior Victor Ludorum for placing first in the Boys U/17 Long Jump, 110m Hurdles and 100m Sprint.
Kristi Lamprecht was named the Junior Victix Ludorum for placing first in the Girls U/14 90m and 300m Hurdles, and 100m, 200m and 400m events. Levandrè Horne was the Junior Victor Ludorum having placed first in the Boys U/15 Long Jump, 100m and 200m events as well as placing third in the 400m event.
Team Valke finished off the day as the winners, with 1 191 points while second place went to Luiperds with 947 points and third place went to Mambas, with 932 points.
