
Laerskool Die Ruiter’s young athletes impressed during in the recent athletics meet at the Ruimsig Stadium. The team participated against various schools in events such as high jump, sprints and hurdles, javelin, discus and long jump.

Siphesihle Baabua won a gold medal in the girls U/11 long jump event while Rotondwa Mushiana also won a gold medal in the girls U/11 1 200m run. Among the U/12 boys, Neo Siwela won a gold medal in the 100m and 150m events respectively, and Banele Ngubeni won a gold medal in the 1 200m. In the girls U/13 events, Ashleigh Gerick won a gold medal in the high jump and a bronze medal in the 75m hurdles. Masego Mokone won a gold medal in the 1 500m and a silver medal in the 200m. Among the U/13 boys, Earnest Mokoena won first place and gold medals in the 1500m and 800m events.
