Princess High’s RCL Leaders

With a vision to move their school in a positive direction, Nomkhosi Maseko, Khutso Ramethape and Gift Hlomedlini were elected as memebers of the RCL (Representative Council of Learners) at Princess High School. Nomkhosi was elected president while Khutso and Gift will be working as her deputies. The trio was elected in a rigorous selection process which involved learners and teachers. The candidates were chosen based on academics, leadership potential, behaviour, discipline and extra-curricular participation.

“I was absolutely elated and humbled to be entrusted with such a humongous position. Especially so in a school that prides itself on promoting women to leadership positions. I want to get involved and inspire my fellow learners to participate in more extra curricular activities,” said Nomkhosi.

Michael Mpubane, one of the teachers who has been working closely with the RCL representatives, said they do not regret having the three learners represent the school.

“Our criteria were very simple and we are happy with our selection. The three learners are hard-working, dedicated and good role models.”
