Traffic lights confusion

Traffic light business

Every morning and afternoon, faulty traffic lights cause hours and hours of delays on the road. Some are due to technical issues, some are due to nature and some are due to technicians trying to scramble your brain at every red, amber, green and flashing arrow.

Can you spot the faux pas the technician has tried to tickle your funny bone with?

The issue is with the traffic lights on the corner of CR Swart Drive and Ontdekkers Road, which are supposed to indicate for motorists driving from Krugersdorp towards Roodepoort. At first, the mistake is not visible until you realise the motorists on Ontdekkers Road turning towards CTM or McDonalds have to wait until the lights are amber, as there is no flashing arrow to assist them. And that most drivers going east have to rely on the vehicles in front of them to know when to move forward as the overhead traffic light is facing the wrong way, and not visible at all. Maybe the originator of this faux pas is trying to warn us – once you go into Krugersdorp, there’s no way out!

The Record attempted to contact the Johannesburg Roads Agency spokesperson Bertha Scheepers, but she could not respond immediately.
