National Look Alike Day

Dress up like your favourite person on #NationalLookAlikeDay

20 April is annually observed as National Look Alike Day, a fun day created to give you the opportunity to look like another person.

We often hear the words, “you remind me of someone,” or “You look just like so and so.” If you already look like someone, you are one step ahead of the game.

One of the most famous look-alikes, is the King of Rock ‘n Roll, Elvis Presley, with hundreds of people wanting to look just like him – from the way he dressed to the songs he sang.

National Look Alike Day was created in the 1980s by a feature television reporter, Jack Etzel. He was in downtown Pittsburgh with photographer Rick Minutello, desperately looking for a light news feature. Rick said, “This guy coming towards us looks like Humphrey Bogart.” Jack saw that the guy did resemble Bogart, cigarette and all, and decided to chat to him and ask him who people think he looks like.

They spent a few hours asking other people the same question and the next day Etzel contacted the Chase Calendar of Events people and proclaimed Look Alike Day so that they could depend on that same funny story for the next ten years.

To celebrate today, pick someone you will see during the day or select a celebrity, and dress up like them. Fix your hair like theirs and talk like them the whole day long! Have fun with this day and post your photos on social media using #NationalLookAlikeDay.
