Speedster escapes after being caught with AK47
One stolen bakkie recovered.

Metro Police Officers of the Roodepoort High Speed Unit arrested ten motorists for travelling at 40km over the 120km/h speed limit on the N1 South, near Maraisburg, on Monday, 1 May.

They also arrested a male suspect in a white Toyota Hilux bakkie with false number plates. The bakkie had been stolen in Pretoria and was travelling at a speed of 176km/h. The driver of a Kia that was stolen from a house in Northcliff and caught travelling at 152km/h, was also arrested. The unit also discovered an AK47 machine-gun in a speeding Mercedes Benz . The officers managed to confiscate the gun but the suspects escaped.

All of these motorists will appear in the Roodepoort Magistrates’ Court soon.
