Aspiring actor rakes in the medals
RUIMSIG – Graytin Pretorius has the medals to show for his dedication to the performing arts.

Maragon Private School, Ruimsig Grade 7 aspiring actor, Graytin Pretorius rocked various stages with his theatrical performances in the past month.
It was a challenge to balance the South African Championships for the Performing Arts and Talents Africa, two national championships which ran around the same time period, but Pretorius still came out on top.
It was the first time Pretorius competed in the Talent Africa Competition at the Roodepoort Theatre, yet, he still came out of both competitions with many medals.
He participated in 30 items for the SA Championships and six items for Talent Africa. In the championships Pretorius was awarded six gold, 10 silver and seven bronze medals.
He was selected by means of auditions to participate in the showcase event which was streamed live and he was elected as a member of Team South Africa to participate at the World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles later this year.

This very talented young actor qualified as a member of the Gauteng team and competed on a national level during the Talent Africa competition, where he was awarded three gold
and two bronze medals. He was crowned Grand Champion for Acting and placed first in the 12 to 14 years age category.
Pretorius was selected as a member of Team South Africa to compete at Talent America 2017 in New York. He is now a member of Federation of Performing Arts South Africa (FPASA), which is an outstanding achievement for a very talented and dedicated young performer.
“Although I have worked really hard for this, attending hours of drama lessons, it didn’t really feel like an effort. Acting is my life and I will do whatever it takes to pursue my
dreams. I am grateful that I have such supportive parents,” Pretorius added.
