Theatre legend Trevor Smith passes away
A regular performer on the stages of the Roodepoort Theatre.

A stalwart member of Roodepoort Little Theatre since the 1970s, Trevor Smith, passed away on 8 April.
Although best remembered by the public as a regular performer on the stages of the Roodepoort Theatre and other local venues, he was also a passionate artist, dedicated lay minister, devoted father to Heather, Greg, Andrew and Michael, adored grandfather to their children and loving husband to Moira, with whom he had been looking forward to celebrating their 53rd wedding anniversary in June.
According to colleagues, he was perfect gentleman who never let the acclaim and many award nominations he received for his roles in plays such as The Importance of Being Earnest, Blithe Spirit, Pack of Lies and Last Winter go to his head and was always more than willing to assist with the less glamorous aspects of show-business.
Family and friends, including many of his fellow actors, gathered at St Thomas’ Anglican Church in Linden to afford Trevor a final bow on 13 April.
