Players excel at provincial trials

Players in Southern Gauteng hockey team

Six players from Maragon Private Schools have qualified to be part of the Southern Gauteng provincial hockey team.

The talented players proved themselves at the recent Southern Gauteng trials which were held at various schools across the province.

Morgan de Jager and Zena Captieux will be part of the girls U/14A team while Shanna Mendonca will be in the girls U/14B team.

Nandi Jasmith was selected to be in the girls U/14C team while Sasha Kunaka will play for the girls U/16A team.

Caylin Barendsen was selected to be in the girls U/18C team.

The school’s director of hockey, Stacey Turner, has been selected to coach the girls U/14B Southern Gauteng team.

MIC of Girls Hockey, Marc Richardson said this one of the highest representations the school has had in terms of provincial girls hockey.

“We are extremely proud of the achievement, as they were selected from a pool of thousands of girls, and represent the top 50 players in the province.”
