All is fair in love and Ruimsig tennis
RUIMSIG – Last year's tennis champions of the Ruimsig Country Club singles championships defend their titles in the final

Tennis players at the Ruimsig Country Club put their skills to the test in the finals of the men’s singles and women’s singles championships.
Defending champions, Derek Green and Aiden Henri faced off against their respective opponents, Nico van Wyk and Michelle Philippides, on 17 June. The finals saw the contestants play best of three sets, but Green and Henri both won their matches in the first two sets, retaining their titles.

“Championships are always different to normal play; they require concentration and fitness. We rarely play singles as we only have three courts. However, I must say the competitiveness is 100 per cent and fairness the same,” said captain of tennis at Ruimsig Country Club, Ellaine Wells.

“So many points are replayed because there is not the line of judges seen at the likes of Roland Garros and Wimbledon, though I for one am so impressed with the level of play and the fairness.”
Currently, the men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles and mixed doubles handicapped championships are ongoing.
Wells explained that the handicapped tournament is designed to give everyone a chance to reach the final, with higher ranked players starting matches on negative scores.
