A statement was released by her family yesterday. She reportedly died as a result of the so-called ‘broken heart syndrome’ (stress cardiomyopathy), which was exacerbated by the stress she endured, especially during the past year after she and seven of her colleagues had taken on SABC COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng about his editorial policy at the broadcaster. They became known as the SABC 8. All eight of them were given the NatNakasa Award for Bravery.
