Strongman looking for next Strongest man

Strongman to open gym

South Africa’s strongest man under 105 kilograms is far from retiring; instead, he will be transforming his dream into reality. Frikkie Page will open SSP Strength, Fitness and Conditioning, where he will be focusing on strength-based sports.

“It has been a dream of mine for seven years to open a gym and now it is becoming a reality. Being a four-time SA’s strongest man has shown that I am passionate about the sport and want to see it growing in the community,” he said.

The gym will be a haven for those focusing on strongman and strongwoman, powerlifting, strong@fit, bodybuilding, and weightlifting programmes, as well as sports conditioning, general fitness, toning and weight-loss.

Every weekend the gym will host a Strongman Camp for those who aspire to become part of the strongman family and will cater to everyone in the community, including disabled persons, for the first time ever in the sports fraternity. There will also be monthly strongman competitions to keep the athletes ready, and a starting block for all the new athletes.

“We are passionate about health and fitness and we want to promote it in the community. My fiancée, Geraldine Lee van Aswegen, will be assisting as well. She is the second strongest woman in South Africa under 75 kilograms.”

The gym will be hosting an Open Day on 8 July from 8am to 2pm to celebrate the launch. There will be an amateur strongman competition.

The gym is located at Shop 6, 44 Ontdekkers Road, in the Timbercity Centre next to Princess Crossing Shopping Centre. For more information, contact Frikkie on 072 290 8888 or email him at frikkie12@hotmail.com.
