Policewomen show generosity

Roodepoort Police's Women’s Network spread some joy

“The women put in a lot of hard work, love and time to ensure this project was successful,” said Angie Ajurna.

Angie is the chairperson of the Roodepoort Police’s Women’s Network, and was at the helm of a project arranged to celebrate Women’s Month.

“We decided that we would love to do a project that would spread some joy to women and children during this important month,” she said.

She said that a number of baby jerseys were given to her by a company, but, because they were rejects, they needed some tender loving care. “The jerseys all had holes in them, so I gave them to the women from the network, and asked them to mend the holes and return the jerseys, either as a complete outfit, or with a non-perishable food item,” Angie said with a big smile.

They decided to spoil the mothers and children visiting the Rex Street Clinic in Roodepoort. “We felt the clinic was the perfect place to spread some joy, because it always assists moms and babies,” she said.

The group of women went to the clinic, and surprised a number of mothers and their children with the beautiful outfits as well as some delicious cupcakes sponsored by Checkers Hyper Westgate.

After the formalities were completed, the group went back to the police station, where they were spoiled with a goodie bag as well as lunch sponsored by Fantastic Baking. “We are so busy helping others, we often forget that we also need to be spoiled during this month, and that’s what this is all about – saying thank you to each and every person who was willing to offer up time to help others,” she concluded.
