Market day raises funds for Noel Macdonald Park

Constantia Village Residents' Association use a market day to raise funds for a local park.

The Constantia Village Residents’ Association held a market day to raise funds for the Noel Macdonald Park.

Many local vendors and companies were involved in making the day (2 September) a success. Total Constantia Kloof sponsored a jumping castle for the children, while a local business made samosas, local craft vendors displayed their various wares, and Clearwater Harley Davidson displayed a few motorcycles.

Jase Delport and Ben Cronje from Streetwise Krav Maga hosted a stall at the market.

Event organiser, Robyn-Leigh Bartlett, said that although the event was a success, they are planning to improve for their next market. “We did it for two reasons, firstly to raise funds for our park. We need to level the ground as there are a lot of bumps, and add top soil. We are eventually looking at getting in Jojo tanks and flower gardens to make it a family-friendly pretty park. Secondly, the market was held to raise awareness among the businesses in the West Rand area. Our hope is to increase local awareness and build a sense of community,” Robyn said.

The date for the next market to raise funds for the park will be confirmed at the next residents’ association meeting and announced closer to the time, but is tentatively scheduled for the weekend of 8 December.
