Referring to “Morning Traffic is a nightmare”, I totally agree with Julia – the traffic getting out of Weltevreden Park and surrounds is dreadful!
In fact, over the past 30 years the area has grown so much, but the roads have never been improved.
I started going down Jim Fouché [Road] about five years ago and it can take between five minutes and 50 minutes to drive the two kilometre’s from JG Strydom, depending on the time of day – and if you sit patiently and do not take your own life (and others) by driving up the wrong side of the road. (Or drive around the back roads – which are also getting congested)
I recall one morning, when Mmusi Maimane was campaigning for election as leader of the DA that his entourage travelled along Jim Fouché [Road] on the wrong side of the road to get out of the area. If he still lives in the area he may also be aware of the problem, but I doubt it concerns him any longer!
There is enough space to make this a dual carriageway – let’s make the travelling worse for a couple of years and get the road widened.
