Prominent hijacking routes discussed during CPF
W/O Karen Jacobs lists the most targeted roads for hijacking in Sector 3.

At a recent Sector 3 Honeydew Community Policing Forum (CPF) meeting, both the police and the CPF members expressed their concern about the high rate of vehicle hijackings in the area.
During the meeting, Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs from the Honeydew Police Station shed light on which roads in the area are most targeted.
Beyers Naudé Drive, and Hendrik Potgieter, Peter and Christiaan De Wet Roads, were among the routes named by Jacobs, who advised motorists to be extremely vigilant.

She said company and delivery vehicles are the most targeted vehicles. “Delivery vehicles are being followed on Beyers Naudé Drive and Hendrik Potgieter Road in particular.”
She added that Range Rovers, Land Rovers and Land Cruisers are also popular hijacking targets, with Christiaan De Wet Road being the favourite spot.
This warning comes two months after the death of two would-be hijackers who attempted to rob motorists with what turned out to be a toy gun. They were shot and killed by the owner of the vehicle on Christiaan De Wet Road.
Jacobs also warned Monash University students to be cautious when walking along Peter Road following a complaint about street robberies in that area. “Monash students who walk around with cellphones and tablets are being targeted for street robberies,” she said.
