West Rand woman loses her savings to scammers
Phumla Mtshamba from Kagiso in the West Rand cried foul after losing a staggering R8595 to people who promised to place her as a domestic worker in Sandton.

A local unemployed woman is heartbroken after losing her savings to bogus work agents.

A helpless Mtshamba told the publication that she placed an ad in the classified section of the Roodepoort Record in September. In October, she was contacted by some men who told her she had been appointed to the job she was looking for; however, she had to pay for her uniform and transport money.
“They said I had been accepted in Sandton and they requested I deposit money into their account, which I did at the Post Office,” said Mtshamba.

She said they first requested R540, which she deposited on 11 October. She added that more and more funds were requested as they left her with high hopes. “I thought eventually I would be called to start work until I realised these people were playing with me. I then asked for my money back, and they promised to pay it over , starting in mid-October,” Mtshamba explained.
Mtshamba opened a case in Kagiso Police Station and handed over contact details of the ‘agent’ to the publication.When the agency was contacted, a woman by the name of ‘Lryn’ said she was aware of the matter and was in the process of refunding Mtshamba’s money.
When asked about the details of the business, this woman said it was called DLC and is based in Rivonia and Ferndale.
