Living Waters of Hope in need your help

Any donation – no matter how big or small – can make a difference

“As a charity organisation, it is always difficult to get donations. People believe they need to give huge amounts, but every little bit helps,” said Doctor Alf Levin.

He is the chairperson of the Living Waters of Hope organisation. “We are a registered non-profit organisation that aims to assist the needy and neglected people in our community to give them a sense of dignity and purpose,” he said.

To achieve these goals, they have quite a few projects going, but in order for these projects to be successful and to make a bigger difference in the community, they need help. “At this stage many of our projects can only be run once or twice a week, but, if we receive more donations from the community, we will be able to reach more people on a more regular basis,” Alf said.

Referring to one of their many projects, he said, “We have team members who, once a week, provide more than 100 job seekers with a sandwich and a spiritual message, to help keep them motivated”.

They also have food drives at the Princess informal settlement twice a week. “We provide food to the underprivileged people living in dire conditions. Our focus is on the elderly and children, as they are the most vulnerable members of society. We also need help to provide study and sport facilities to these children as well,” Alf said.

Every month the organisation donates toiletries to the elderly at an old age home and one of their team members do foot treatments there as well. During November, they donate grocery parcels to identified children at schools in the community, as well as warm school wear during winter. They provide back-to-school stationery to those who cannot afford any.

“We offer support services to families in need according to set criteria,” he said.

Those who would like to offer their support can contact Alf on 0822 572 1875 or Hester on 082 490 5998. Alternatively, visit their website atwww.lwoh.co.za.
