City Power won’t get their annual bonuses

City Powers top Management have shown true leadership.

The City Power Board of Directors have announced that they took an unprecedented decision that all members of City Power’s Executive Management Committee together with the general managers will not be paid their annual bonuses for the last financial year of 2016/ 17.

This is how they substantiated their decision: “The Board is of the opinion that while all deserving employees from the level of managers and below could be paid their annual bonuses, members of the company’s Executive Management Committee have collectively not achieved the Board‘s expectations and targets”.

Councillor Nico De Jager, MMC for Environment and Infrastructure Services, including oversight over City Power praised this move. “It shows that the leadership of City Power are personally committed to taking responsibility to improve performance of the entity. This commitment to service excellence at a personal level is recognition of the responsibility they have to the residents of the City of Johannesburg.

I look forward to continuing to work with the team to improve City Power’s service to all residents.”

Ward 82 councillor Susan Stewart gave her thoughts on this matter and she said, “I certainly think that it is commendable that City Power’s top management have shown true leadership by demonstrating that they are not acting in their personal interest but in the interest of the people of our City. If more individuals within the public and private sector could demonstrate the same selfless attitude, the world would certainly be a better place. Well done to those who have chosen to put the people and the country first”.
