Judo clinic helps judoka to improve their skills
Annual judo clinic a roaring success

The Doryoku Judo Academy hosted its annual judo clinic at Laerskool Roodekrans recently.
The clinic, which was held over two days, hosted judoka from Laerskool Protearif, Laerskool Krugersdorp-Noord, Laerskool Roodekrans, Laerskool Helderkruin, Laerskool Horison, Laerskool Dr Havinga, Maragon Private School – Avianto, Maragon Private School – Ruimsig, Curro Academy Wilgeheuwel and Curro Primary School – Krugersdorp.

Judoka had the opportunity to improve their knowledge and skills before they were placed in different teams that took part in a round robin competition the following day.
The team captains had to pick creative names for their teams, and the higher grade judoka of the club acted as officials, in order for them to qualify for their next grade. “For the first time in history, the first place was shared between two teams – The Judo Legends and The Judo Gladiators. The Judo Pythons placed second and The Judo Tigers third,” said Danie Bruwer, the owner and head coach of the club.

The tournament ended with a lot of happy faces, as some of the judoka also successfully graded for their next belts, and all participants received a Special Doryoku Judo Academy Medal.
“I just want to thank everyone who made this weekend a great success,” Danie said.
Danie and his coaches not only teach judo at schools on the West Rand, there is also a dojo in Roodekrans, where judoka of all ages train after hours.
