Viking’s boxers gear up for Gauteng Elite Championships
Five boxers to keep club's name high

The annual Gauteng Elite boxing championships will be taking place on 13 and 14 April in Alberton and five West Rand boxers will be competing.

Phillip du Randt, the head coach at Witpoortjie Vikings Boxing Academy, as well as the Public Relations Officer of Gauteng West Province Open Boxing, said, “The five boxers who will be competing at the championships are Raymond van Niekerk (Vikings), Phumelele Cele (Vikings), Harry Joubert (Randgate Boxing Club), Hardus Jakobs (Randgate Boxing club) and Morgan Hunter (Krugersdorp Boxing Club). The coaching team believes that the team will be bringing home titles.”
He added that, after the Gauteng Championships, the next step for the boxers will be to compete in the South African Championships, which will be taking place later this year.
“We want to wish them the best of luck with their shots at the various titles,” Phillip concluded.
