Hillfox incident a hijacking, not an armed robbery
An eyewitness to the hijacking at Hillfox Value Centre on Friday, 25 May has come forward explaining the events that unfolded.

An eyewitness to the events that unfolded at Hillfox Value Centre on Friday, 25 May, has come forward and stated that there was no armed robbery. He explained what had happened.
According to the witness to the hijacking, he was on his way back to his vehicle, which was parked close to the target vehicle, when he heard a commotion.
“I had just finished my gym session and was almost at my car, four cars away from the vehicle being hijacked, when I noticed two men wrestling with the owner of the car,” the witness said.
The witness was initially unsure what was happening and considered the possibility that the people might just be playing. However, when a woman came running towards him, shouting that they were being hijacked, he began to approach, but was then stopped when the same woman shouted that the hijackers had a gun.
Once the hijackers had overpowered the owner of the vehicle, they demanded its keys.

The witness alerted the security guard to what was happening and requested him to inform the control room.
“A second car, which was parked next to the vehicle that was being hijacked, drove off before the hijackers could start the vehicle they were attempting to steal,” the witness continued.
When the witness noticed that the doors of the vehicle they were attempting to hijack had been left open, he presumed the hijackers had left, and decided to look for them in the parking lot.
“When I stopped at the stop sign, I saw the second vehicle mentioned earlier drive by. I also saw an individual firing shots at the hijacked vehicle, which was fleeing the scene.”
The person who had fired the shots then got into a vehicle and they gave chase.
Although earlier reports indicated that there had been an armed robbery at the action sports centre just before the attempted hijacking, this has been proved false by information that came to light after the initial report was published.
