Roodepoort trumps Teine in own backyard
Roodepoort and Randfontein Rugby Clubs faced off once again in a bid to settle the debate on who's who in the West Rand rugby zoo.

Roodepoort went into the day with the upper hand, having reclaimed the Castle Bowl during April’s game day at Ruimsig Stadium, which saw them claiming four victories from the five matches. Randfontein, however, arrived at Greenhills Stadium in search of vengeance, hoping to take back the Castle Bowl on home turf.
The day didn’t get off to the best of starts for the home side as Poorte’s U/19 side managed to grind out a 12–7 victory. An improved Randfontein side lost by a far smaller margin than the hiding they were handed earlier on in the season.

While the U/19 teams battled it out, the 3rds also ran out in the hope of winning it for their clubs. It was again Roodepoort who triumphed, this time winning 41–8, an improved eight-point margin on the previous result between the sides.
Next up was the U/21s, with Teine hoping to maintain their superiority over Poorte after a victory earlier in the season. Poorte managed to turn things around this time, running out 48–12 victors.
The second teams were toughing it out on the opposite field with Teine hoping to overturn the previous result. Teine failed in this respect however as Poorte earned yet another emphatic victory, this time winning 33–7.
The final match of the day was, as usual, that between the first teams from Roodepoort and Randfontein, with Teine hoping to salvage some dignity from a day full of humiliation. It would also decide who was going to take home the Castle Bowl this time. Despite a strong Teine effort, Poorte simply ran riot and won 50–7, earning a bonus point in the process, to secure the Castle Bowl once again.
The clean sweep made by Poorte means they remain the better of the two giants on the West Rand for the year.
