Ndimande said he withdrew the common assault case because he forgave Govender
The security guard who was involved in an altercation with the owner of Midas Florida last week, wants to clear his name and said he denies all the allegations against him.
A video of the altercation was posted on Facebook last week, showing the owner of Midas, Jay Govender, manhandling a security guard, Themba Ndimande.
Ndimande said Govender is tarnishing his good name and wants to set the record straight about what transpired on that day.

Ndimande said he received a shortfall on his salary about three months ago. “My boss deducted R2 600 from my salary, but then he started to harass me and chased me out of the shop a few times,” Ndimande explained.
“I work almost 24/7 for him. I work night shift, but he calls me any time he wants and I always respond,” Ndimande said.
He said he told Govender he is looking for cheaper accommodation and wanted to move at the end of June, but because his salary was less, he could not afford it. “I confronted Govender and took my daughter with me so that she could see that I wasn’t lying about my salary. All I asked for was R200 extra to buy some food. Govender said he was busy and told me to wait. After an hour, I left to look at a possible place to stay, and when I came back, I went to talk to him again, man to man. He started calling me names and using strong language. He pushed me around as well.”
Ndimande’s daughter, Nonhlanhla, said Govender shouted at her dad even before her dad could say anything. “I took the video because I wanted proof of how he treated my father. Govender swore at me as well and said he would buy me a cellphone if I didn’t put the video on Facebook.”
Ndimande denies being on drugs or addicted to alcohol. “I have the occasional beer, but I cannot take drugs or drink and look after my child.” He said he uses a bucket to collect water outside because Govender accused him of using more than R9 000 worth of water. “I never take leave, there are no salary increases, no sick leave and if I don’t work, I don’t get paid,” Ndimande said.
Ndimande said he withdrew the common assault case because he forgave Govender. “Govender said the video is damaging his business and he would give me R5 000 if I take it down. I told him that he owes me more than R5 000. We have no food or electricity. If I can get the money he owes me, I will move, but until now he hasn’t given me a cent.”
Nonhlanhla said they are living in fear. “All I want is for my father’s name to be cleared. I don’t want the family to think that he is a bad father, he is very good to me,” she said.
