From wizards to warlocks, the Medieval Fayre wows once again
Whether you were an English knight, or your mother was a hamster, or your father smelt of elderberries, the 2018 Medieval Fayre was a joy for all.

Fans of all sizes and shapes, and from every part of the mythological and medieval spectrum, made the pilgrimage to La Vue Guest Lodge for the 2018 Medieval Fayre.
The weather on Saturday, 1 September was as out of this world as the characters depicted by the Fayre-goers, with beautiful, endless sunshine all day long. Gates for the Fayre opened at 11am, and straight away hundreds of people streamed through to get their taste of medieval times.

Everywhere you looked on the day, there was something to take part in. Undoubtedly everyone’s favourite of the day was the continuous battles on the battlefield. For as long as the gates were open and people could take part, individuals dressed in armour and armed with padded weaponry battled it out for ultimate glory. If you weren’t watching the battles, you were probably winding your way through the numerous stalls with either a craft beer or a turkey leg in hand.

The day saw the coming together of fans of anything and everything, be it Game of Thrones, Vikings, Marvel’s Thor, Monty Python, or simply medieval culture. There were also best-dressed competitions, which saw knights of all sizes, maidens of all (or no) beauty, and magical wizards and warlocks come out in their numbers to take part.\

The South African Lipizzaners also attended the day, wowing people with their phenomenal performances. One best not forget the axe-throwing and archery competitions as well, which were thankfully far from each other.
All-in-all, on a day which perfectly marked the beginning of Spring, the 2018 Medieval Fayre had something that satisfied every medieval, Nordic, or fantasy tastebud, with many vowing to eagerly return for the next one.
