C4C receives helping hand from Dios Los Ninos
Dios Los Ninos' learners collected all sorts of items throughout the third term.

Dios Los Ninos (DLN) came to the aid of the women and children at Champions for Change (C4C) by donating more than 100 packages and items on Thursday, 20 September.
According to the school’s principal, Leonie de Kock, when they found out that the women at the centre sew and knit clothing items and toys, they just had to lend a hand. “The most beautiful part for me was that the teddy bears (donated or knitted) do not get sold, they are kept aside and given to children after an incident when they are most in need of comfort,” Leonie said.
In light of this, the school decided to collect and donate materials such as buttons, wool, thread, etc. that will allow for the women to continue their work. This was not the only initiative they drove however, as they also collected a large number of items needed to make up ‘care packages’, as well as second-hand clothing.
Each of the 128 care packages that they put together included roll-on deodorant, a face cloth, soap, a pack of sanitary pads, toothpaste and a toothbrush. To achieve the large-scale collection they were aiming for, the school, with only 65 learners, ran the project for the duration of the third term.
They didn’t stop there however, as they also collected and donated toys, clothing, coffee, tea, sugar, as well as cutlery and crockery. All of the items that were collected by DLN were handed over by Leonie and a group of five learners on Thursday, 20 September.
