Tenth Earth Centre market day coming up this weekend

The fun and market day this weekend will be the 10th edition of the annual event.

The Earth Centre will be hosting its 10th annual Fun and Market Day this Saturday, 27 October.

The event originally started out as an annual ‘open day’ to provide the public with the opportunity to visit the centre and watch a therapy session in progress. It started off with only a few supporters – mostly parents/ guardians, volunteers and staff. It has however been grown and nurtured over the years by the Centre’s fundraiser, Julia Morris, to the extent that more than 300 people attended in 2017.

This year, guests can expect more than 30 stalls forming part of the market – selling everything from biltong to beer kits to jewellery, and of course handmade crafts. With it being a family event, there will also be plenty for the children to do, including pony rides, patting and chatting with the miniature donkeys, and a children’s play area.

The event will open its gates to the public from 9am to 3pm. Entrance will cost R10 per person and can be paid upon arrival at the entrance gate.

All proceeds from the event will go directly toward funding the objectives of the Earth Centre. The Earth Centre is a non-profit organisation that reaches out to the marginalised disabled community aiming to create hope through horse riding therapy. The children that ride with the Centre often come from disadvantaged backgrounds and most would otherwise not receive any form of therapy due to their circumstances.
