Equipment manufacturer Title marks venture into boxing fitness

After 24 years of manufacturing boxing equipment, Title Boxing Equipment has finally made the move to start up its first boxing gym, kitted out with only Title’s own equipment.
Title was founded in 1994, becoming Africa’s first manufacturer of boxing equipment, and operated out of Bassonia and Germiston, with Germiston being where they manufactured, stored, and showcased their equipment. Throughout the years, they never really took to the idea of running a gym where boxers could train using their equipment.

However, that all changed in October this year, when they undertook to open the company’s first satellite gym in South Africa, situated in the Constantia Office Park, adjacent to Green and Gold. The aim of the gym is to not act as a club which will represent and promote fighters, but to rather act as a place where both aspiring and established boxers can train.
The gym has a team of two boxers who have taken the reins when it comes to training; Lulu Smith and Tyron Hall. Both have had a number of years of experience in the ring on the amateur circuits, sporting records of 20 wins to 3 losses and 53 wins to 22 losses respectively. While both fought in the lightweight division on the amateur circuit, Tyron has also recently made the move to professional boxing, with one fight and one win under his belt thus far.
The gym currently has 10 individuals training, ranging from as early as 6am, right up to 7pm, and offers technique training as well as focusing on fitness and weight-loss. “We’re more about ‘boxercise’, we want to help people get fit and help them lose weight while also teaching them self-defence,” Lulu said.
