The Johannesburg WA Mozart choir is in need of at least 60 extra voices, and is extending an invitation to those interested to join them.
“After the successful performances of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Mikado in July last year, the choir is preparing for a programme of more serious classical music. It will include Mozart’s Great Mass in C (K337); Beethoven’s Welten singen Dank und Ehre; Tshiakovsky’s 1812 Overture; and Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine. The performance will be at the Linder Auditorium on the afternoon of 10 March,” said Karin Spottiswoode, one of the choir committee members.
She added that the works require a large choir, and said, “We are inviting those interested to join us at our weekly rehearsals, which will kick off again on 14 January.”
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings from 7pm to 9pm at the Christ Church, 14 Cutten Street, Horison.
Karin concluded by saying, “Because the choir will only have nine weeks to prepare for this performance, it is likely that there will be some extra rehearsals, but this will be communicated.”
