
Maragon Ruimsig’s Class of 2018, consisting of 89 learners, managed to finish their year with a 100 per cent pass rate and a 96 per cent bachelor’s degree pass.
The success of the school’s 2018 group showcases the strong academic brilliance that the school possesses. The 100 per cent pass rate was a repeat of 2017’s, while their bachelor’s degree passes saw an impressive six per cent increase. Ten learners in the 2018 matric group achieved five or more distinctions, with its top achiever, Nicole Philips boasting an impressive eight distinctions.

Nicole equalled the number of distinctions her brother Michael achieved at Maragon the previous year, but managed to edge past him with an average of 92,28 per cent to earn an outstanding achievement in terms of the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) system.
Nationwide, IEB schools managed an overall 98,92 per cent pass rate, an improvement on the 98,76 per cent in 2017. Of those who passed, 90,65 per cent had qualified for entry to study towards a bachelor’s degree, up from 88,5 per cent in 2017.
