Weather warning issued by South African Weather Services

Thunderstorms predicted for the next three days

The South African Weather Services has issued a weather watch for a 40 to 60 per cent chance of thunderstorms over the next three days – ending on 30 January.

Because of the prolonged and frequent rain received during last year December, soil saturation could occur, which can result in flooding and trees toppling, among other things.

Because of this, the City of Johannesburg’s Disaster Management Centre has cautioned residents to be careful when crossing low-lying flooded bridges, or driving in wet road conditions, and, where possible, to remain indoors during intense electrical storms.
