Two would-be house robbers were arrested after being spotted and reported by residents.
The high-risk tracking and K9 Unit of Dowry Security received a report regarding a suspicious white vehicle driving around with the occupants checking out houses. When they were spotted by one of the CPF patrollers, they fled.
A lookout and last known direction was broadcast, and, while en route to the location, the suspects’ vehicle was spotted racing down Voortrekker Road, towards Ontdekkers Road.

The security company’s responders made a U-turn and a high-speed chase ensued. The suspicious vehicle was driving all over the road, and even went into oncoming traffic. They were forced into the service road by the security responders.
One suspect decided to jump out of the vehicle at the 90 degree turn at the Corlett Avenue bridge, and started running away, crossing the bridge.
The vehicle continued to try and get away, by speeding over the curb and the middle median, onto Ontdekkers Road, where they were eventually forced to the side of the road.
When they saw the guard dogs, they got out of their vehicle and surrendered.
The police and some CPF members also arrived on scene, and the suspects were then arrested and taken into custody. The vehicle, which had false registration plates, and a variety of housebreaking tools, were taken in for processing.
