Transnet made a donation like no other to Horizon View Primary School and the school will be forever grateful for it.
As part of Transnet’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) project, the company offered to revamp the school’s sports grounds. This included the netball courts, soccer fields, basketball courts and fencing, cricket pitch, planting grass on the pitch, as well new sports uniforms for the school. Transnet also revealed that it will revamp the school’s borehole water supply, and on top of all of that, it offered a soccer clinic to the school.

Learners at the school were very excited to hear this great news and explained that they were not confident when they had to play sports against other schools because of how bad their sports kit and uniforms looked. The learners also stated that it was hard for them to practise because of the lack of resources and poor sports grounds; however, things will change for the better now.
The school principal, Claudia Sono, and other staff members could not hold back their tears of joy after receiving such remarkable news. Claudia said, “This is a school that believes so much in fitness and sports and I appreciate this big donation. It will change the school for the better.” She also thanked all the staff members and the SGB chairperson for making this dream come true.
