A massive pothole at Paul Kruger Avenue and Judd street put threats to the lives of residents living near by.
According to Terresa Swanepoel, despite the fact that it was reported to the Johannesburg Roads Agency (JRA), no action has been taken.
She said the pothole is a huge concern because motorists do not know it is there. “You often hear screeching tyres, followed by a big bang when the tyre burst. I fear that a motorist will come crashing through my wall soon,” she said.
“I have reported the matter several times, but the response I receive every time is ‘We are working on it,’. They never come to check how bad the situation is. I know that cars’ tyres burst due to the pothole. It is putting my life at risk as well.”
DA ward 84 councillor, Gert Niemand, said, “The matter has been reported to JRA several times. They are not doing their job. We had three accidents in the past four days due to this pothole, we need this to be sorted out as soon as possible.”
The Record contacted JRA who said they do not provide comment to the newspaper. They said the pothole issue is across the city and not of interest to the newspaper.
