Youth empowerment

The programme aims to engage youth and children in various indoor games, sports and recreational activities, performing art and culture

Mathole Youth Safety and Development (MYSDF) invites children to join them for their first term school holiday programme.

The programme aims to engage youth in various indoor games, sport, recreational activities, performing arts and culture.

Siyabonga James, coordinator of MYSDF, said the programme aims to empower and reintegrate the youngsters of Matholesville, so that they will refrain from criminal activities.

Various government and non-government organisations will be there to do presentations on various societal issues, including business and career exhibitions.

“Our aim is to develop children from the disadvantaged communities of Roodepoort,” said Siyabonga.

Guests from various government departments are expected to attend the event. They include the Departments of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture; Social Development, Community Safety and Emergency Services, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department, and the Police.

The event will take place from 18 to 30 March at the Roodepoort Town Hall, with each day’s programme running from 9am to noon.
