Florida community invited to join clean-up

Volunteers needed

Florida residents are invited to join hands and help clean up their community during a clean-up campaign on 23 March.

Rodney Churchyard, one of the organisers said, “This is a follow-up on our community meeting in February where we said that we were fed up with the drug dealers and drug use in our area”.

He added that they were urging community members to take pride in their community and to help clean up the neighbourhood.

“We will meet at the main entrance of the Florida Train Station at 8.30am and will be busy until 2pm. We will be removing rubble, cutting grass and trimming trees,” said Rodney.

Those who are interested in joining are invited to bring along a team. “Ask friends, family members, colleagues, schools, clubs and churches to support this initiative and let us make a success of it. There will be complimentary boerewors rolls and cold drinks for the volunteers, but only a limited amount will be available,” Rodney said.

He also appealed to sponsors to help ensure the success of the day.

Ward 70 councillor, Caleb Finn, urged community members to join the clean-up campaign, and help make a difference in the community.
