No water for Florida and surrounds after Rand Leases pipe bursts

It was the second time in two days that the pipe has burst.

A water pipe has burst in Rand Leases for the second time in two days, leaving Roodepoort CBD and Florida without water once again.

According to notice sent out by Ward 70 councillor Caleb Finn, the pipe first burst yesterday, disrupting the water supply to the surrounding areas, but it was soon fixed, only for it to burst once again this morning. This led to a large number of residents being without water supply for hours on end today while, according to the councillor, Joburg Water is on scene repairing the pipe.

He did however state that it could be a few more hours before water supply is restored to the areas. “It seems as though the welder is still busy so it will probably be up to three more hours,” councillor Finn said.
