Milestones continue to fall at Ruimsig parkrun

Three runners completed their 50th parkrun on the day, a special achievement.

More than 800 runners took to the course at the 30th Ruimsig parkrun, with three of them completing their 50th parkrun and 67 registered first-timers completing their first.

The weather was naturally slightly chilly that early in the morning, as we edge closer and closer to winter, but this didn’t stop the 800+ runners from lacing up their takkies to tackle the 5km run around Ruimsig Stadium.

Many runners had their furry friends accompany them on the run, while a few supermoms carried their little ones in harnesses for the run.

The slightly chilly air didn’t slow down the first-placed runner at all, as Obakeng Moswane managed to set a new personal best time of 16:33, with second-placed Paul Gerrard completing his 308th parkrun in a time of 17:01. Pieter Mouton was the highest-placed registered first-time parkrunner, finishing in ninth place with a time of 19:59, while Olga Williams was the first woman over the line with a time of 22:00.
