Mashaba said the planned development will comprise mixed income opportunities, catering for different markets throughout Extensions 83, 84 and 85.

“The three-phase development illustrates the multi-party government’s commitment to bringing the Diphetogo Strategy to our communities. While the development is currently in an early phase, its completion will have a significant effect on the City’s efforts to provide safe and affordable housing for residents,” he explained while also reflecting on the challenge of the housing backlog they have, which is estimated at a shortfall of 300 000 units.

“Through this development, the Zandspruit community stands to benefit not only by having their dignity restored, but also through the essential services being delivered by the multi-party government,” said Mashaba.

He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the hard work and commitment shown by Van Wyk and members of the coalition government, as well as the EFF, for helping to bring services to the residents.
