Florida girl needs help to see

She only has 10 per cent vision in one eye

A community member, Flo Andrews, is appealing to fellow community members to help a 21-month-old girl to see.

Flo explained, “Chenay van Onselen has a condition called iris and retinal coloboma, which has left her with no sight in her right eye and only 10 per cent in her left one. She needs a prosthetic for her right eye and special glasses and surgeries for the left. As she grows, she will be needing follow-up procedures as well.”

She added that Chenay’s mother, Liezl, is a single parent and does not have the financial means to cover these procedures. “Liezl works at a restaurant, and, in an attempt to raise money to help Chenay, she is working as many shifts as humanly possible, but they need all the help they can get,” Flo said.

Flo, together with two of her friends, decided to open a club account – Chenay’s Eye Fund – at Absa to try and help Chenay, and she said, “If you know of any individuals or corporate companies that would be able to assist, they can contact us for the necessary details, we would be more than happy to to give them more information.”

She concluded by saying, “Let’s see if we can make a difference in this little girl’s life.”
