#ImadeMyMark: Residents exercised their democratic right

No major incidents reported

South Africans exercised their democratic right to vote on 8 May when they streamed to the polls to make their marks.

Roodepoort residents were no different, and even though there were a few minor issues here and there, among them long queues and some voting stations running out of ballot papers, the voting process went smoothly.

Record journalists also visited a few voting stations in the area, where they took some time out to talk to some of the voters, Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) representatives and some other role players, to get their take on their experience.

It was evident that South Africans still believed in the voting process and were proud to go to the polls and make their marks to help make a difference.
