The show went on for Shanaya

Even though the little girl lost her battle with cancer last week, the show was not cancelled to symbolise her bravery and positive perspective on life.

A fundraiser was held for Shanaya Govender at The Barnyard Theatre at Silverstar on Saturday, 25 May.

In September 2017, after six months of being operated on and misdiagnosed, Shanaya was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, which is a rare type of bone cancer.

Even though the little girl lost her battle with cancer last week, the show was not cancelled to symbolise her bravery and positive perspective on life.

Family members, Shanaya’s parents and all the people who loved the little girl gathered at the venue all dressed up, and had a big party in memory of their beloved princess.

Some went on stage to share their heartfelt memories of Shanaya and to celebrate the life of the brave little girl who battled against the terrible disease. Lee-Ann Nambiar Govender and Shanaya’s aunt, Amritha Maharaj were among them.

The community is invited to a celebration of Shanaya’s life on 15 June. The venue and time are still to be confirmed.
