I have been watching the N1 Maraisburg off- and on-ramps with interest since the Outsurance JMPD pointsmen have been placed there.
But, instead of making this busy piece of road better for all road users, it is just the opposite. It is harrowing watching those two pointsmen dodge the unruly drivers.
Why is that intersection still not working? I will tell you why. The power box on the northbound off-ramp has been stripped clean of all its content.
So, the two pointsmen play dodgems with some horrible drivers. No-one actually pays them any mind and the abuse these two individuals suffer daily really takes special souls.
Why do the police not show their faces? These criminals need to be brought to book. Apart from the possible accidents, we will soon also find two injured pointsmen.
Is the city then going to have memorials and visits to the family if these two people are critically injured?
South Africa, stop driving as if every one else owes you! If you did not buy your licence but actually earned it, you will know what the SA National Road Traffic Act says.
You frustrate other law-abiding citizens and are endangering the lives of two employees of the city!
These drivers need to feel the repercussions of breaking the law.
