What is going on with e-tolls? That is a question that has been on everyone’s mind, but worry not, we will see the light before the end of next month.
Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, together with Transport Minister, Fikile Mbalula, and Finance Minister, Tito Mboweni, have until the end of August to find a solution to the e-toll issue.
The deadline and mandate was given to them by President Cyril Ramaphosa and various Cabinet members on Wednesday, 10 July, during a meeting.
Mboweni recently had an outburst on Twitter, attacking Makhura’s comments about the e-tolls during his State of the Province Address.
Makhura said e-tolls would be scrapped in Gauteng, but Mboweni insisted road-users should pay. The Presidency labelled the public exchanges between the two ministers as “regrettable” and “unbecoming”.
