The City of Joburg has unveiled a team of 60 Tourism Ambassadors whose task it will be to enhance tourism safety.
The MMC for Economic Development, councillor Leah Knott, announced that the newly trained Tourism Ambassadors will be deployed across various tourism nodes and attractions in a bid to ensure that Johannesburg continues to be a thriving and safe tourism destination.
In May, the Department of Economic Development’s Tourism Directorate launched the Tourism Ambassador Programme to refocus on tourism as a key imperative, in line with the City’s Growth and Development Strategy (GDS), the Joburg 2040. This initiative is also aligned with the City’s goal of achieving economic growth.
